But, you can call me Kristin (or KPJ). I’m an art director and graphic designer who currently resides in the Midwest. Over the years I’ve lent my skills to a boutique design firm, a small regional shop, and a few mid-sized agencies. Most recently I did a 7-year stint at an agency in Michigan, but I am now happy to be back in my home state.
I grew up in Northwest Indiana in an area known as “The Region” and was brought up to have the mentality that getting your hands dirty isn't a bad way to live your life. It sounds cliché, but I’ve found it to be true. This is evidenced by the variety of jobs I've had since I was 15, and what I've learned from each. Drying mass quantities of cattails for autumn floral arrangements taught me that getting paid by the bushel is a complete sham. Bagging groceries showed me that everything has a logical place (and that I’m really good at Tetris). Stocking office supplies gave me a love for writing instruments that probably seems a bit overboard. And, customer service has taught me that people will almost always hear you out if you're confident in what you're saying.
Before I was old enough to work, I spent a good deal of time at car shows. Weird right? I mean, what’s a 10-year-old girl doing hanging out with her dad by the A-Team van while gear heads are hawking motor oil? I was enjoying it, that's what I was doing. And as odd as it may be, my love for design started with an instructional book on drawing cars that I was awarded in second grade for reading the most books in class (let me tell you, Mrs. Blastick's class had quite the heated competition).
Besides cars and reading I have a deep love for all things design, college towns, carbs, Prosecco, knowing certain Pantone colors by heart, my husband, and my dogs Iggy and Lottie.
